Bhopal -20 years on....

For those interested in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy here is a 15 min clip on the state of affairs,20 years on. See it - it will give show you how callous multinational corporations(MNCs) can be. Something every government which supports the opening up of markets to MNCs must not forget- there is a cruel, cold-blooded, irresponsible face of the MNCs. And they seem to be able to get away with anything. These sites from Amnesty International and the official site on the Bhopal tragedy will give you more details. For those who want more info read this book by Lapierre and Moro. I have an autographed copy of the book (went for the book launch where Lapierre was present)- I highly recommend it.

From the mental health point of view it was one of the first disasters during which the mental effects of a man-made disaster were examined systematically. As expected there were both acute and long-standing fallouts of the disaster.

Here's saluting all the brave survivors of this horrible tragedy. They still await justice which is an indication that both national and international legal/social processes have not yet achieved their mission.
